Pilots

These pilots are always looking for a good reason to go flying and invite you to get in touch with them if you'd like to go for a ride. Perhaps you're a pilot looking for a safety pilot so you can log some simulated instrument time, maybe one of these pilots can join you.

About the San Luis Obispo FlyBoard

The SLO FlyBoard is a place where people on the Central Coast (Paso Robles to Santa Maria -- PRB, SBP, L52, SMX) with an interest in flying can meet. Everyone is invited to participate from those with just a passing curiosity in flying to experienced pilots with thousands of flight hours. I'm trying to make it useful and interesting to people with no knowledge of aviation as well as those who have been flying for years. Please email me with any comments or suggestions you may have. You may also like to follow more aviation links in my bookmark file.

In addition to this web page, I am also maintaining a mail list to notify people whenever something is added to this page. Please let me know if you would like to be included on this list.

People new to aviation usually wonder how much it costs. First, one should be aware that a private pilot is prohibited by federal regulations from receiving payment for operating an aircraft. However, a private pilot may share the operating expenses of a flight with passengers (See Federal Aviation Regulations 61.118). Expenses are usually based on the time that the engine is running and may vary from $50-$150+ per hour depending on the type of plane. Ratings above private pilot do allow charging for services. If you are serious about getting an airman certificate, you should plan to have $4,000 - $6,000 set aside for it.
